Karissa is a registered dietitian who specializes in weight management, eating disorders, and chronic disease management, helping patients develop a healthier, more balanced relationship with food while achieving sustainable results. She takes a compassionate, individualized approach, meeting patients where they are and guiding them toward long-term success.

Karissa graduated from the University of Vermont with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics, Nutrition, and Food Science. During her undergraduate studies, she worked as a research assistant on multiple clinical trials focused on weight loss interventions, strengthening her foundation in evidence-based nutrition care.

She completed her Dietetic Internship through Cornell University, where she conducted research on chronic disease self-management in rural New York populations and provided nutrition education across diverse community settings.

Karissa’s clinical experience includes acute care at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, as well as subacute rehabilitation and long-term care in the Brooklyn community. She has treated hundreds of patients with a wide range of conditions and has particular expertise in managing Type 2 diabetes, kidney disease, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and digestive disorders, in addition to weight-related and eating behavior concerns.

She values building strong, supportive relationships with her patients and is passionate about empowering individuals with the knowledge and tools needed to take control of their health. Karissa focuses not only on what to eat, but also on sustainable habits, behavior change, and realistic strategies that fit each patient’s lifestyle.
