Karissa graduated from the University of Vermont with a BS in Dietetics, Nutrition, and Food Science. During her undergraduate studies, she worked as a research assistant for multiple clinical trials for weight loss research programs. She completed her Dietetic Internship at Cornell University, conducting research on chronic disease self management in the New York rural population as well as working in the community to provide nutrition education to all ages. She has worked in acute care at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester as well as subacute rehab and long term care in the Brooklyn community. During her time in the clinical setting, Karissa has treated hundreds of people with a wide range of conditions. She values the connections she is able to make with her patients and is passionate about sharing her knowledge of nutrition to empower others to take control of their health.
